Melissa Morehead-Moore has been a lifelong public servant whose career is defined by her passion for empowering and encouraging others. A proud graduate of Benjamin Bosse High School in Evansville, Indiana, Melissa began her journey of service in the United States Navy, where she served honorably for 9.5 years on active duty. After her military career, her Hoosier roots and strong family ties called her back home to Evansville in 2000.
Since her return, Melissa has made it her mission to empower every person she encounters, uplift those around her, and make a lasting impact through community service and leadership. She currently serves as Secretary for the EVSC School Board of Trustees and as a Commissioner with the Social Status of African American Males. In addition, she has served on the leadership team for the grassroots organization And How Are the Children.
Melissa earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Evansville. She is also a proud alumna of Leadership Everyone (formerly Leadership Evansville) and Hoosier Women Forward, Class 4 (2021–2022), where she now serves on the board. Her impact and leadership have been recognized with numerous awards, including the University of Evansville Office of Diversity Initiatives UEAAA Mentor of the Year (2017–2018), the prestigious Sadelle Berger Award from the Mayor’s Diversity Council (November, 2021), the Political Awareness & Involvement Award from the Evansville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., (May, 2023) and most recently, the Woman of Empowerment 2025 Award from the Junior League of Evansville (October, 2025).
Professionally, Melissa has served as Programming Coordinator in Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Evansville and as Marketing and Communications Manager at the Children’s Museum of Evansville (cMoe). She currently serves on the ministerial staff at Greater Hope Church in Evansville, Indiana, under the leadership of Dr. JC Campbell, where she holds the position of Chief Ministry Officer and Executive Administrator and is an ordained Reverend.
Driven by her passion for personal growth and transformation, Melissa is also a certified life coach who helps women release their past and boldly step into their future. She is the CEO and Founder of Melissa Morehead, LLC, a coaching and consulting company specializing in personal development, organizational growth, and empowerment.
Melissa also co-founded and hosted the podcast Trashed It!, where she and her co-host dismantled stigmas and broke barriers facing women today. She is the voice of Community Chat on WEOA 98.5 FM — a show that uplifts the community through honest conversation and connection. She is a highly sought-out speaker, panelist, and moderator, known for engaging audiences with her authenticity and expertise.
In her downtime, Melissa enjoys writing, reading, cooking, and journaling. She is a published author, lives in Evansville and is the proud mother of three children and grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren — Marlee, Jayden, and Kamora.
